Are you heading out on the Salish Sea for a whale watching adventure? We can’t wait to welcome you onboard! Every tour is a little different, and being well-prepared helps you make the most of whatever the day brings on the water—whether it’s sunshine or sea breeze!
Just like the wildlife, the weather can be full of surprises. It can feel up to 10°C cooler on the open water than it does on land, even on a sunny day! To help you make the most of your tour, here’s everything you need to know about what to bring and how to dress.
🧥 Dress Smart: Layers Are Key
No matter the season, we recommend dressing in warm, comfortable layers. You can always remove a layer if the sun comes out, but being cold on the water isn’t fun for anyone. Here’s what we suggest:
- Waterproof windbreaker jacket: Keeps you dry from sea spray and sudden showers
- Long pants: Protect your legs from the wind and cold
- Closed-toe, flat shoes: Essential for safety and comfort on deck
- Gloves and a warm hat: Especially helpful in spring, fall, or windy conditions
- Sunglasses and sunscreen: Even on cloudy days, the reflection off the water can be intense
🥤 What to Bring: Fuel Your Adventure
We offer lunch options for just $15 CAD per person—just choose your preference when you book, and we’ll have it ready for you onboard. In addition to lunch, we provide complimentary snacks and bottled water.
Want to bring your own extras? Feel free to pack:
- A reusable water bottle
- A light snack or packed lunch
📸 Capture the Magic
The Salish Sea is teeming with life, and you never know what wildlife you’ll see! Be ready to capture those unforgettable moments:
- Camera or GoPro: Secure it with a strap if you can—things can get splashy!
- Binoculars: Great for spotting distant wildlife or scanning the horizon between sightings
