If you’ve spent time along the BC coast, chances are you’ve looked up and spotted a bald eagle soaring overhead or perched regally atop a cedar tree. With their distinctive white heads, fierce gaze, and seven-foot wingspans, bald eagles are one of the most recognizable—and awe-inspiring—birds in North America. But while their numbers have recovered significantly since the DDT bans of the 1970s, these majestic birds still face serious threats, especially in coastal ecosystems like the Salish Sea.
